So I decided to take a dive into the world of overclocking again. My previous overclock was a Celeron 433 which I took to 488 using FSB overclocking. (of course all that you can do with Intel chips these days)

I've had the Iwill KK266 Plus and 1.0 retail AXIA combo for about two weeks now. I got it for $179 + tax at Fry's. True, there are faster DDR boards out, but I knew the KK266 is a proven stable platform and I should be able to sell it for a decent price in a couple of months to upgrade to the best KT266A or nForce board near Christmas.

Unlocked my chip with the pencil trick and immediately took it to 1.2 Ghz which is what I am going to stay at since I only have the retail HSF. Running stable in Win2K. Prime95 torture test looped 4 times with no errors. Q3 runs fine as well. I haven't checked my temps because of stability problems I had with Motherboard Monitor and the VIA hardware monitor. Anyone know of a better temp/fan speed utility out there?

I'm right there with you man! Just finished overclocking and tweaking my setup this weekend. Got it up to 1333 but just putting the FSB at 133. Raised the Vcore to 1.75 and ran a double loop of Prime95 with no prob. Much faster than the PIII 550 I used to have. :D

sounds awesome, man! the only thing is (and this is a nitpick, i know), i think you mean KA266. the kk266 is iwill's sdram mobo. the ka266 is their ddr mobo.

Nice. You could probably get it up to 1.3 easy. My AVHAR 1.0Ghz Tbird is @ 1.3 right now, running @ 43 C full load with a SK-6/ Delta combo.

Yeah, I could probably get to 1.33, but I am a stability nut so I'd rather play it safe at 1.2. I think the retail 1.33 HSF is beefier than the 1.0-1.2 heatsinks. I definitely do NOT want the noise of a Delta fan...if anything I'd go to a Taisol. Right now my computer is fairly quiet considering the three fans in the case, the tiny fan on my SCSI Plextor burner, the CPU fan and the two hard drives. (the hard drives and burner fan probably contribute the most noise)

Anyhow...I'll probably upgrade to the Palomino around christmas and pick the best DDR board out there. Right now my rig should be plenty fast.

No I meant KK266...I have this board and I chose it because of the great price, proven stability, 6 channel sound, (had no sound card before...was using USB speakers), and the fact that I didn't have to spend another $30-$50 on DDR SDRAM. Yeah, I know I could have used the ECS board with SDRAM, but I'm not sure if the bugs have been worked out of the chipset and I want the option to overclock. The search for the ultimate Athlon DDR chipset/board continues...
