There is a lot of science involved in making good fudge. What was the technique you were using?

I made some, and it tasted good, but had an odd consistency. You have to heat it up enough, and not overload it with sugar too much.

the old fashioned way, slow boil to a soft ball, but i did something wrong. i have made it before with no problems. but you are right to make fudge its a exact science or you get the result i have sitting in the pot right now.

Bummer, doesn't that require a double-boiler? To keep from overheating it?

Is the end result "spoonable"? If that's the case then it's not a total waste. Just fattening & not presentable to others...

Yup, need a double broiler which most guys don't have in their kitchen.

Fudge doesn't require a double boiler. Just a sauce pan with a lid and a thermometer.

yea but with a double boiler you eliminate the risk of burning it
