Just tried taking a picture in a totally black room ...

using my new Canon PowerShot A40 digicam only problem is I dunno how to use the damn camera!

I can't get pictures to save to it's 8MB CF, any suggestions (other than reading the manual)?

It has fresh batteries (the alkalines it came with), flash works, everything works.

It's just not saving them to the CF, I wonder where the little dial needs to be?

Yeah there's a P, here's what the dial options are from top to bottom:
movie mode
I dunno what the next one is
M
P
AUTO
Play (or maybe it's review)

I've had it on auto this whole time.

Let me try using the P setting.

get the 96mb sandisk cf card from frys for 25 dollars!

and dont review sites say that the canon a40 comes with a 16mb cf card? why does urs come with an 8 mb one?

I'm taking a picture in a dark room because 2-3 ATers said the Canon is excellent at this. Well that's great, if only I knew how to operate the fscking camera!

gwlam12 - I think I'll go with 256MB for around $70 shipped from Amazon if I can get that $20 off $100 Gold box coupon to work and there's a $10 rebate on Kingston I think.

The A40 comes with 8MB not 16MB CF.
