I just went over to the bank and I happened to walk past EB Games. I casually looked in the window and saw a Wii display, not even fully setup yet. A Nintendo rep was there installing it. Of course, I had to go in.
I played one full race of Excite Truck. Overall, I was very pleased with the performance of the system and controllers. Graphics were a little bit better than the Gamecube, but it's certainly no giant leap. I was particularly impressed with the response time of the controller. It took a little getting used to, but by the second lap of my two lap race I pretty much had the hang of it. I still hit plenty of trees and such, but it was easy to figure out how much to turn the controller for various turns. The display was not fully setup yet and did not have sound, so I'm sure I didn't get the full game effect, but the little sound effects from the speaker in the controller were a nice touch.
