I was in Detroit my freshman year of college going to watch the FSAE competition at Ford MPG, I was staying with an alum from my college (who worked at GM doing vehicle dynamics) and who was married to a woman who worked at Ford SVT. I was there when they were wrapping up the first GT500 prototypes. She brought one home while I was visiting... after having dyno'd it at 507whp that day. Those horse-torque numbers are no lie.

Those numbers are misleading. 800 HP is about it on a stock street car on pump gas. Its like saying "1500 hp capable turbos and intercooler", doesn't mean youre going to bolt it on and get 1500 hp on a daily driven stock car. To start with you better have 116 octane race fuel at every corner just to go over 800.

http://www.svtperformance.com and see what typical cars can do. There are a few 4.0 Whipple cars running 800 wheel or so.

They can claim that because the blower can do it on 40 psi on a fully built race car with a FAST stand alone and sleeved block or because the inlet can flow so many cfm. Kenne Bell has gotten stupid with marketing lately.

They're pretty sweet but a little too garish for me, I don't like attracting that much attention.

How can the engine handle 1300hp???

It can't, not stock. You'd want a purpose built block with good hardware (ARP main studs and rod bolts, and probably aftermarket rods and pistons as well.) And better oiling, and so forth. Exdeath is right... You don't simply bolt on the new blower and expect that horsepower level; you need to have the rest of the engine configured to support it (i.e. the intake has to be able to flow enough air, the cams/heads may need to be changed/modified, and the right full-length headers need to be used, and then the engine has to be properly tuned)... At this point you no longer have a street car, but a dragstrip-only track car.

If you get one without the stripes it's not at all "garish" (unless you think the Mustang itself is garish)... it looks like a regular Mustang with minor styling changes.

That snout sure makes a statement with or without the stripes. Amazing car just not my thing.

It is far more "aggressive" looking that a regular GT

I will be getting that 5.4 alum block for my TT Terminator build (unless that rumored 5.8 block manifests). First production 5.4 alum block that isn't the bajillion dollar Ford GT super car block.

Looks like pure evil waiting to pounce...

It sounds like pure evil, too. This is the first car I've ever owned where I've not felt the immediate urge to change the exhaust system. It's got a mean growl, and cops on the side of the road stop what they're doing to look as I drive by.

The GT500 was made for raping at stop lights, period. That's it. If you want to run laps against the GTR, get a Boss.
