It looks like EVGA decided to skip G4 units altogether, and instead call it G5.

I have no idea what the "Green is the new gold" is all about, but I'm guessing it either has to do with efficiency or how much they are going to charge for these new units. :p After looking at the unit on my desktop, the top of the unit has a green grill. It's a very......let's just say a very unique design decision, IMO.

Seriously though, EVGA seems to be offering some nice instant discounts ($40 - $60 off) if someone needs a new PSU: https://www.evga.com/products/ProductList.aspx?type=10&family=Power+Supplies&category=G5

Edit: The discounted price apparently also factors in a $15 - $25 MIR.

They needed a whole separate web page, to ... explain the new box? If it's not intuitively understandable, right on box, and requires and explanation page, IMHO, they're doing it wrong. :p

That said, the new boxes don't look that bad.

'4' is an unlucky number in China. I'm sure EVGA is aware of this fact.

It could be. I haven't seen anything from EVGA saying anything about their naming of this new series.

I wonder if they'll skip the G13 here in U.S. when they get to it. :p

Maybe. I think a lot of Americans have gotten over their triskaidekaphobia though. You can put "13" into a product title and still sell here. FFXIII did well enough. Chinese culture is perhaps less dynamic in that respect.
