Grabbed a Thunderbird 1 GHZ chip the other day and I haven't been able to get my system to post, even with a different chip (duron 700). I inspected the Tbird and it looks like there is a VERY small chip to the core, not sure if it is screwed....please....pray with me!

If another chip does not work, maybe the motherboard is the problem not the processor...

Good Luck.

If you tried another CPU and it doesn't boot, it could be a faulty motherboard. Try installing only the video card, ram and hdd and see if it will boot. Maybe you shorted the board? Hope this helps.

yea, its pretty short minded to blame the CPU when infact you tried another and it also didnt work. I suspect its the MOBO or some other part in your system... when building a new system its generally a good idea to start off w/ the bare essentials (vid card, ram, cpu, HDD, floppy, cdrom) and add things once that setup is up and running stable...
