Impalas are descent cars. And everyone who says they aren't for young people, how is Camry any different?

No one said that the Impala was for old people. Bench seats and column shifters in cars are for old farts.

You know how hard console shifters and bucket seats make for getting road _ _ _ _....??

My thoughts exactly.. heheh..

Haha, what an ugly car with a cheesy interior. Gimme a Camry or Accord.

If I want a 4-door sedan, I won't buy American.

And since when is 200HP considered "power" ?

FUnny, I'd say the same thing about a Camry or an Accord.

Camry V6 has 210HP
Accord V6 has 240HP
Altima V6 has 245HP

You could say that the Camry has no power, but you can't say the same for the Accord or Altima which would totally stomp any Impala.

I was actually referring the interior comment, BUT since you brought it up...

Impala SS supercharged V6 240HP with 280ft/lbs torque (http://chevrolet.com/ss/)
Altima V6 has 245HP with 246ft/lbs torque
Accord has 240HP with 212ft/lbs torque

True it's yet to be released, but it's a production model.

What's this I hear about the Impala getting.... what did you call it... stomped?

A Grand Prix GTP Comp-G is still no faster than an Altima 3.5 SE. Same will go for the Impala SS with it's supercharged V6 since it's basically the same engine only with less horsepower.

Have you ever seen a regular Grand Prix GTP go ripping down a drag strip and pull a low 14 bone stock? Now think about what would happen if you swapped that pulley on the supercharger out... Altima 3.5 SE what?

In high school i had the choice between a mitsu galant or a chevy impala. Thankfully I chose the galant.

Every American car my family has owned has well outlived it's lifespan. My Crown Victoria is pushing 150,000 and my father's Grand Marquis is doing the same. I dont see why everyone hates American cars so much.

GM is ranked 2nd now in reliability behind Toyota.

Galant has no bench seats. Bench seats w/ shifter on the stearing column is a must.

150,000 miles? Thats nothing.

My father's 1980 Toyota Corolla - over 350,000 miles, it was still running when we sold it in 1993

He then got an off-the-lease 1988 Acura Legend - over 270,000 miles, it is still running today, sold it to the neighbor across the street

BTW- Both have the original engine, none of this replaced the engine at 100,000 miles or any tricks. Parts that wore out had to be replaced of course like the clutch ... but nothing major.

I'd expect that my parent's newest set of cars now (Toyota Avalon, Acura RL) will also last at least 250,000 miles assuming they're driven (dad doesn't put as many miles on the cars as he used to, new job a lot closer).

I'd imagine that my Acura TL-S will last pretty long in terms mileage, assuming the tranny doesn't bite the dust 🙂

Uhh huh...lets race the midsize sedans...

If power is THAT big of a deal you wouldn't buy any midsize sedan...I fail to see why 20, 30 or even 40 horse power makes much difference on these cars. Definitely not worth getting your balls in a knot like some people here...

Also have to like the people who have owned one, or maybe two American cars in the last 20 years and will never buy them again. Uh huh.

I'm gonna use a Maxima comparision for this but:
A stock GTP runs around 14.9s. Stock 5-spd 1997 Max runs around 14.8s (depends on driver skills). Apply S/C on a Maxima and it runs 13s. Have Nitrous and it runs low 13s, high 12s. I have links for timeslips for these cars.

some people care not if the interior is "cheesy" or not.

Yes, in the same light - some people don't care if they eat McDonalds or if they eat Mortons of Chicago. That doesn't make Mickey D's as good or better than Mortons.
