Just switched to 1024x768...on a 17"CRT

Good god.

My eyes are literally melting. After being on 1024x768 (from 1280x1024) for a while, it feels like this monitor is all high-tech and big. 1280 makes my monitor feel wimpy, but then again, I'm so pissed off becuase everything is so damn pixilated...

EDIT: MY BEAUTIFUL START MENU! It won't even FIT the thing anymore...

EDIT: HOLY GOD! PROGRAMMING ON 1024 IS A BITCH!

I hate 1280x1024. I have bad eyesight and it's too small but it's my LCD's native resolution so I don't have much choice. It sucks needing to wear glasses just to read the text on the screen. 🙁 I'm far sighted btw.

Only reason I did this was to change my refresh rate to something higher than 60 (at 1280 it tops out at 60)....
I can't seem to access the Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced, my computer restarts everytime I do that, so I'm using MultiRes to change the res and the refreshr ate.

Unforutnately there's no little checkbox saying "Hide refresh rates that the monitor can't handle", so I can't do 1280 and increase it over 60hz.

Help?

Anyone using a 1280x1024 LCD ought to bump the DPI up to 120 from 96. Problem solved.

While you're at it, enable ClearType, and turn on Large Fonts if you like.

don't ruin your eyesite, keep things easily viewable with lower resolutions... I don't know how people read some sites with small text... I guess they already have glasses...

Uninstall monitor driver, reinstall as Plug and Play Monitor.

Before I do that, you sure my screen won't blank out when I uninstall the monitor driver?
Edit: And uhh...where would I reinstall it?

good greif. I can't stand using anything under 1920x1440. anything less just seems like wasted space. (I think that's about the equivalent of 16x12 on a 17 in)

/hugs 2048x1536 22 in crt.

In Device Manager. And no, you won't lose your display image. If the Monitor(s) category disappears, right-click on your computer (in the Device Manager list) and Scan for Hardware Changes.

Awesome. Done.

Now I'm going to Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced.
*Crosses fingers and hope it doesn't restart*

Wow. You're jacked. You sure you got the right video card drivers?

Good point, I should try installing the latest Catalyst....should be done downloading and installing in about 15 minutes. I'll be back soon.
