... from my 1-year-old (out-of-warrenty) CompUSA Generic 19" (Model X-970) to a Gateway 2000 CPD-17F23 17" (Used.)

Other than having to switch the resolution down to 1152x864 as opposed to 1280x960, and having to turn off PowerStrip (The 19" had SERIOUS gamma problems, and PowerStrip was the only way I could begin to correct them), I'm having two minor problems.

First, my eyes are having trouble focusing on the screen. Is this just because of the fact that this is a flatscreen (Or near-flat), or is somthing else wrong. When my eyes actually do focus, it's crystal clear, so it's not a clarity issue.

Second, there's two seemingly dead rows of pixels - each about 1/3rd of the way from either the top or bottom. There's also a discolored column about 2mm wide 2 inches from the right hand side.

I can't see why I never noticed these before, this has been my primary shop monitor for about 2 years.

I'm guessing it's a Trinitron tube. They aren't dead pixels, all Trinitron tubes have that.

Its called an aperture grille. That's normal.
