Just swapped out my iPhone

My 8gb iPhone purchased on launch day developed a small, but unfortunately poorly located small bubble under the glass of the LCD screen. Anything white/grey on the screen made it stand out like a sore thumb. It was tiny, no doubt, but very noticeable.

Brought it down to the Apple Store, showed him the tiny bubble and he swapped my phone for a fresh refurb within 10 seconds. My phone had been scratched up pretty badly from my crappy Agent 18 Eco-Shield, and the refurb was spotless, so I am very happy with the "upgrade"

Also, dunno if something was wrong with my old one, but the camera on this one looks (in my lay opinion) quite a bit better. Just better colors and sharper edges, dunno if its placebo but it looks better to me.

 Yea for apple! Yea for refurbs!

sweet deal man, I've had quite a few iPhones dropped in my lap with cracked screens (I work for AT&T Wireless).. ended referring them to the Apple Store or Apple Warranty.. noted that these were at least 1" cracks to fully shattered screens (spider web glass).. anyway, in some cases Apple replaced them for $150 or $250 and it seemed to vary greatly as often times ones with larger cracks/spider web all-over cracking got the $150 and then a few with hardly a 1" crack got a $250 charge. I don't know if its just the 2 surrounding Apple stores from me or if its the reps that judge the crack.

But anyway thought I'd share some Apple experiences.. a tiny circle is quite different than a crack I understand.. and in that case you could sorta blame it on a pixel or something.. but IMO its just the reps at the store who judge this stuff.

Isn't the Agent18 shield supposed to prevent scratching?

According to Agent18's e-mail conversations I had with them, its only designed to protect the phone from drops and dings on the corners.

My corners were fine as I never dropped it, but the case itself left big gauges in my phone. Go figure

I do like the look of those, but to be honest, i've been using the iPhone naked (albiet with a screen protector) for 5 months or so now, and i've yet to get a single additional scratch. I may just keep it that way as I like the feel of the naked iPhone :D

interesting, it seems apple didn't do a full wipe of the refurb as the former owners info still shows up in the iTunes wifi store.

speaking of which, did you swap the SIM and sync your new iphone to your computer and all your old info gets synced to the new iphone?

yep, took just a few seconds and it was all back to normal again :)

Though, I've become a bit disappointed with this replacement as i've noticed 4 stuck pixels when the screen is dark (watching a movie, etc...)

I may have to swap again :(
