Got a cheap 1.4 mobile p4 chip from eb@y the other day. cost me £23 which is about $40. swapped it with the 1.8a in my machine and its now running a nice 200 fsb (800qdr). Current temps in my koolance rig show 38c running folding @ home.
system = p4b533 mobo, 512mb pc3200 & geforce 4 ti4200.

its running the 12x multplier - currently at 208mhz for 2496 (I like whole numbers and this was the closest I could get to 2.5). Not bad for an old board

running 200+fsb gives a really nice boost.....

3DMark2001
P4 12x200fsb 2.4ghz = 12417
P4 18x133fsb 2.4ghz = 12001

not bad for a $40 chip ;)

Yep, as I had the only p4b533 board that wouldnt run 3:4 over 133 it is nice to get the memory working properly. and besides I can now sell the 1.8a and get another 512mb of 3200 (Then perhaps a granite bay with 800fsb when they come out!) . Its wierd really of my 2 main machine at the moment both have mobile processors in them. My other, a sn41g2, has a mobile1600xp running at 10*166. - both chips are cool running and were cheap as most people dont trust running them.

3:4 ratio is an undocumented dipswitch on the p4b533 motherboard.

turn on ds6 while in 1:1 ratio and it will be 3:4 ;) (above 133fsb)

:)

I tried every different combination and still no luck - perhaps UK boards differ. Oh well not a problem now.

what kind of heatsink are you using?
what packaging type is the mobile p4?
did you need to get an adapter to make it fit on your motherboard?

I am using a koolance case with the gold plated 100w waterblock and a further gpu block on my ti4200

what packaging type is the mobile p4?

same as desktop p4 but without the IHS

did you need to get an adapter to make it fit on your motherboard?

Nope but it runs a 12x multiplier so you need to hit high fsb's
