The process could have gone a little more smoothly but I suppose anything worth doing is worth a little pain 😉
I had some trouble with the USB devices - I have both USB mouse & keyboard and they didn't want to come up after the system started loading windows the power to the USB devices just went off :|
So I put in a PS2 mouse and finally got to device manager & scanned for new hardware - it found the USB stuff and all started working again.
This Asus A7N8X came without drivers or anything so I didn't have the 3Com driver here, however Windows had a list of 3 com drivers and two of them had the word "integrated" in there so I just tried the first one and it worked!
Now my lan is internet connected again, and after a bit of burn in time I'll see about overclocking this baby 😉
I didn't even have to break out my Win XP cd 😉
oh yeah - it's crunching seti again after a few hours off 😀
