You would think that it would be quite a bit of strain on the eyes to focus on an LCD screen, then quickly switch over to a CRT

Well, I would personally keep both monitors identical because it is possible to have strain from switching monitors very quickly. Try adjusting brightness levels of one monitor to match that of the other. That might help a little.

Make sure your crt refresh rate isn't at 60Hz

Change the refresh rate to 60Hz for the LCD. See if that help. At work, I have a 19" CRT and a 15" LCD, no problem at all. At home, I have 2 19" LCDs though![]()

I shuffle between 4 LCD's most everyday and get headaches on occassion also. If theres a vid. playing on one while im focused on the others it tends to make it worse. It comes and goes...althought it might just be my wife nagging that gives me the headaches in the first place and not the monitors at all! LOL

Problem is that you have the CRT flickering in one eye, and the LCD not flickering in the other eye.
If I go from a CRT to an LCD it hurts after doing it a bit, but I can change between my two CRTs running @ 75Hz all day. Of course a pair of 19" LCDs would be much nicer, but cant have everything

You just have to remember to set the refresh rate on the lcd to 60hz, and the crt to 75hz or higher, also tune down the brightness on the lcd and try to let the crt match
