Howdy all,

They call me SilverHair for good reason lol.

Anyway, I'm back into DC. I had stopped DC when seticlassic ended but its time to DC again. I used to run seti@home classic many moons ago and was a member of TA then.
(under a different name) and was a member of TAS :)

As the title suggests I've started to run Rosetta@home beginning today. I do however have a question or two. Lets make it 3 haha

I have been away from DC since seticlassic as stated earlier and dont have the time to study each one.

1. Does Rosetta take advantage of dual core automagically or does it have to be stroked?
2. Which DC project can use a GPU for crunching?
3. Which other project really need a helping hand? (more systems to commit) 2 dualies and 3 single cores to help out.

EXCELLENT! :D Thanks for joining the TeAm and double thanks for joining Rosetta!

1)Dual core is automatic, you don't have to do anything special....same for HyperThreading. :)
2) To the best of knowledge, BOINC does not support GPU crunching. The only project I know that does is Folding.
3) All the projectts need a helping hand! ... but I'm glad you picked Rosetta LOL :p That's some nice power you're packing there!

Sorry to say, but it's not true what BadThad said about #1

#1 You have to go to the Rosetta site, log into your account, go for general preferences, and set "On multiprocessors, use at most" at least to "2", so a dualcore gets fully used. As far as I know, this is not done by default.

#2 Yes, Folding@Home can use some ATI cards for crunching, but it also need at least one core to do so.

#3 DPAD is one where we have a battle with Free-DC these days, till the end of the month. They took spot #2 in the world and we want that one back!

What was your name on TAS? So many people come and go during the years :)

Just wish I had a 16 way system lol

Mine was too when I started R@H. AFAIK, it is set to 16 by default.

Hey Silverhair (Gundog), I remember you from Seti Classic. You had a small team if I remember correctly and ran a queue that was helpful during the time Berkeley used to go really bonkers. Nice to see you again! :D

Right on, Crazee. :)

Hail to the leader of the Gundogs! :D

Great to be crunching along side you once again.
