Just Started Playing Warcraft 3, need some tips

Right now I play the demo version because I want to get a little more familiar with the game before I go on further. What strategies do you guys use?

Also, what should be done so I can defend if someone rushes me because I like to play games longer than what a rushed game with a winner would be. Since I play with the demo, I can only use the Orcs so that kind of limits the strategies I want to use. Also, I'm mostly referring to 1v1 games.

Don't hole yourself into your base. As orcs, use your farms along with the spike upgrades as a defensive barrier to slow down any attacks.

Ok, I think farms are in the retail version since I haven't seen any yet, but I'll make sure to get the spikes upgrade. Anyone else?

Depends on what kind of oppenents you're playing against...
Computer oppents are usually dumb and predictable if you surrive it's initial attack.
Some basic tips for beginners include, getting a good melee hero and building 2 barracks at start to pump out basic units, and then go on from there. It's important that you try to out-creep your opponent, so your hero will be at higher levels than theirs.
If you're playing against live opponents on bnet, then it's a different story. You have to scout, try to see what they're massing, and then make the appropriate counter units. All easier said then done, but save the replays and watch what the good players do and emulate.

delete it, i love RTS and blizzard but this has to be the worst game ever. Once your hero is level 10 its over, plus the non expansion storyline was horrible. what a waste of time and money...

Each to their own I guess. I love the original and Frozen Throne.
