i used to collect maybe when i was 9-12 years of age. i stopped for a while but now i started up again. i went into a card store and bought two packs of each type of sport, well actually four packs of football and two of basketball. i got one good card, a numbered card. pretty good, not bad. anyways, anyone else heavily into sports cards these days?

I used to collect baseball and basketball cards. I stopped around '92 or so. It just wasn't much fun anymore, and then they started coming out with all the "premium" cards and all the holograms and other bs.

I collect off and on each football season. I needed some cash, and just sold a bunch of this year's cards on eBay. Go search completed auctions for Rob9874 to see what I've recently sold. Cards are MUCH different today than they were even 5 years ago. People, like me, who collected in the 80's and early 90's missed out on the cool cards they have today. In fact, most people I meet who say they have thousands of dollars in old cards, actually have early 90's cards, that are worth about $2 for the whole set. Today's cards are auto'd and/or have a piece of jersey in the card. You can pull cards worth $200+ right out of the pack. But packs are much more expensive. My advice is to stay away from the cheaper cards. You won't get any return. I'd rather buy one $10 pack than five $2 packs. The best rookie card in a $2 pack might be worth $10, but the $10 pack could have a $150 rookie in it (but also much harder to pull).
