So I got a 1999 Daewoo Lanos like less than a month ago. I get a ticket for not stopping at the stop sign, that ticket was B.S. I dont want to get into it but trust me I stopped. Yesterday I get a ticket for doing 50 on a 35 zone & having plastic covers on my plates which I bought from autozone! WTF?!? they are illeagal than why sell them? Well for the Stop sign I paid the $100+ fine & got traffic school (waiting on date). Yesterday the cop was nice? I dont know he said 1. Take a picture of the cover off & the judge will dismiss it. 2. Its your first speeding ticket, you will get a fine & supervision, but it wont go on your record & no traffic school. Oh god I'm so screwed.

Edit: FIne should be $50-75 he said.

Edit: How screwed am I? I mean I will get 4 month supervision... So what happens if I get a ticket in that time? What happens if I dont? Does it matter what type of ticket it is?

What color is the license plate cover? Anything other than clear is A) pointless and B) asking for trouble from cops

EDIT - noticed you just edited your post:
I got the blue ones.
Just because they sell them doesn't make them street legal.

Clear plate covers are generally okay, but if it distorts or alters the look of the plate, you're probably gonna get a ticket for it in most states. What state are you in?

While I think a blue license plate cover would be completely stupid, I do agree, why would they sell them if they're illegal in your state? that's kind of lame.

Basically, you're a punk with more hormones than brains, and no regard for the safety and concerns of others.
I see you already have decided the responsibility for your actions is not your doing. It is everyone else's fault, of course.
You blew a stop sign; you were nailed for going 15 mph over the posted speed limit, and you have those greaseball plastic Saranwrap coverings over your plates. Lose those covers, by the way. They are an advertisment that you are a loser.
With any luck, the traffic judge will suspend your license for six months, and your old man will put his foot up your ass. You do still live at home, right?
Your insurance rates must be reasonable, too.

WTF are you doing home on a saturday, posting on ATOT? Dont you have friends you can fvck? I mean I just got home from a friends mini party 30mins ago, I plan to go to sleep soon & go to another when I wake up. With any luck, the roof will fall over your head. Yes, I live at home & from the background i'm from I will most likely do that the rest of my life, since I'm the oldest. 6 months for $600, its high but its my first car. Anything else?

Damn thats some bad luck. I've been driving since I was 15 (restricted) till now 20 and I haven't gotten a ticket or warning yet. (I drive a hell-of-lot) Closest thing to getting a ticket is when I was out with my friends joyriding/exploring and wondered onto some private property near the beach. The road had a gate but it was open and when we went up a little it was just barren. My friend got out and took a piss and some of us got out and were ready to start drinkin a little and before we could get the trunk open my friend said he saw lights to the left of us. We got in the car and started to drive away and wouldn't you know cop lights start blazing and "pull over now" comes over the loud speaker.

Needless to say, one of my friends starts freaking out and the other one says just be like Fonzi man. Of course we all start laughing like crazy. Cop comes over and asks for my license and registration and starts going into a rant about coming onto private property and how there was a gate with a sign that said no trespassing and if I was walking by a house and there door was swung open if I would walk into their house. I explained I didn't see a sign and the only reason I wandered in was because the gate was open and I didn't see a sign. Later on when I left I looked at the gate and it was open with the sign facing the wall where it was swung open. No way you could read the sign, let alone barely see a sign was there. This was a beach with a bunch of roads leading to several parking lots and parts of the beach.

Anywho didn't even get a warning or got my car checked or anything. Just told us to be careful. Later we all discussed on how he was probably getting some tail and we all disturbed it. So he couldn't take us to jail with the female or male being in the backseat. Since the car was in a very dark place behind some trees. :)

Sorry if I went OT there but I had to tell my story. :p

On the license plate issue that blue one you used I think would distort it heavily depending on the color of the letters on your license plate. Auto-part stores have been known to sell things that are borderline legal. One cop might see it illegal while another will just ignore it. Just like tinting places tell you that the dark tint you want on your car is legal and then 5 months later you get pulled over by a cop thats in a pissy mood and decides to ticket you for it even though later on when you check if they are too dark they aren't. I'm sure you could fight that blue thing. Just a bitch that you have to go through the trouble. :/

Stop driving like a jackass. Problem solved.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket.

I've gotten two tickets for running stop signs, both of which I deserved. I don't roll them anymore.

I don't put stupid ricer mods on my car, especially stupid BLUE COVERS on the license plate.

And just because you go to parties (where people probably try to avoid your annoying ass anyway) doesn't make you any less of a loser, just FYI. Some of us have outgrown that sort of thing.

Blue license plate covers alters and hinders seeing the license plate from all angles and times of day.

Least you don't live in Texas - they just recently passed a law where if the license plate frame covers up any part of the plate that has text on it (like the big TEXAS on the top) then you can get a ticket. It made a lot of dealer frame plates illegal.

Get off my road. People with tinted license plate covers just scream "I BREAK MAD LAWS!" - get a clear one if you're concerned with someone removing the stickers. Why? Because they tend to foil red light cameras, and make it EXTREMELY difficult to read the plate if you're more than a few yards away. It's probably not illegal to have somthing covering your license plate - it's probably illegal to have somthing that distorts the view of the plate. Why are they still sold? Some states only require rear license plates, and some people put pictures on their front license plate holder. If your state does require front plates, what about out of state customers?
