Just spent 62 bucks on a battery charger and some batteries.

OK, Santa is bringing me an A70 and being the researching geek I am, I found that the MAHA C-204F battery charger was the most highly rated as were the MAHA brand batteries so I ordered 8 of the 2200mAh rechargable batteries.

$62 bucks for batteries just seems wrong but I suppose being able to recharge them will save money in the long run.

Now I gotta find a memory card to replace the standard 16MB card that comes with the unit. 😉

Thompson Distributing?

In any case, you did well. Pricey but probably the best charger(s) and batteries out there.

CF is relatively cheap. I've got a 512 and 256 Kingston CF. Gave a 256 to my bro-in-law because i'm such a nice guy and because i'm ban..... uhhh, married to his sister. 😛

Keep your eye on the Kingston online shop because there are always coupon codes around. They had a pretty smokin' deal awhile ago with a code you could get from the deal forums (I think it was almost 40% off) plus free shipping. They have very well regarded high speed cards too although you won't really need them. If you are going to get only one card I would consider the 512 unless you would rather have the redundancy for protection. Then 2x256 is fine. If you find the VGA movie mode highly useful (unlike some clueless posters in these forums 😉) then the larger card is much better.

Yes, Thompson Distributing. I checked newegg and their prices weren't competitive although they are one of my favorite places to buy from...

I will keep an eye out for those Kingston deals... I got a 64mb card I can use in addition to the standard 16mb card but it would be sweet as hell to have a 512mb card... heck, I would also be happy with a 256mb card.

I'm looking forward to getting serious with my new digital camera and would prefer if battery and storage issues were kept at a minimum. 🙂
