Just some stupid, random mod questions... (Cathodes, fans, round IDE cables)

About to make an order from newegg for some additional stuff on my new system that I have already ordered. First off, here's my new case. Take a look at it real quick and picture it with a blue cathode and blue fans. Now to the questions...

1) I realized I needed some fans since my case doesn't come with any rear ones. So I'm going to buy these fans.. I'm just going to go aheand and buy 5 of them even though I'll only need 2-3. The reviews seem great about them so I'm fairly confident I'll buy them. There aren't any quieter blue led fans out there, or is there a better deal or what? Any other suggestions?

2) My power supply comes with a free cathode (must pay shipping of course). Is there any difference between the Antec multi-color cathodes and the single colored ones besides the added color options? I ask this cause they are the same price and one would think that more options = more money. Am I right in assuming they are basically exactly the same?

3) I'd like round IDE cables. I'm going to have 4 HDD and two optical drives, all IDE. So I'm just going to buy 3 of these. There's nothing I need to know about round cables in terms of them being slower, or if I should stay away from generic round cables. Also... what color would you guys reccomend for what will mostly be a blue or green lit cathode? I know it's all personal preference, and I'm thinking maybe red would look best, but purple would also look pretty cool too, maybe. Anyone aboslutely love the color combo in their system with round cables that they'd like to share?

I think that's it. Like I said, they're stupid questions, but this is my first time building a system so I have zero experience with all this stuff, and I know you all do. So thanks for the advice.

Floppy drive cables will not connect your PATA drives to the motherboard.

I'm partial to the rounded cables from SVC.com. clear jacket with a copper mesh. Single 10" drive cables for everything other than optical drives which get a dual device cable. Floppy, 3 HDs, CD-RW, waiting for DVD-R drive.

Its not that hard to make your IDE cables round. Just cut them into individual wires or groups of 3 or 4 wires and roll some electrical tape around them. I just did it a week or so ago, its probably the easiest mod you can do.

if you take your time and carefully route and fold those flat IDE cables, you can achieve a much cleaner look than those round cables. I've seen some cases where you almost couldn't tell there were IDE cables connecting the drives cause they were so well hidden.

But round ones look cooler! :D

But maybe I'll try that. I too have seen pics of cases like that and it wasn't too bad. I guess I can always buy the round cables at anytime since I already have plenty of flat IDE cables lying around.

Any good site with lots of pics on them of lighted modded PCs that I could work off of?

Thanks again.

I'd recommend the clear-coat IDE cables with the copper weave shielding. They're just badass lookin IMHO
