So I'm driving down the freeway in the SF Bay Area this morning. I look ahead and see a key fob swinging around the back door of a Brinks Armored Car. I pull farther forward and take a second look. Yep, you betcha', there's a key that had been left in the rear door of the armored car with a fob swinging back and forth. The key was very visible because it was a bright silver one. I guess if you leave the key in the door, you want forget what pocket it's in. Certainly it's faster to turn a key that's already in place and facilitates easier access to the money.

It's the security issue though. I'm tired of bailing out banks, and perhaps Brink's in the future if they continue this practice.

A silver Brink's armored car, number 972118, northbound on highway 880 in the vicinity of the 5th ave. offramp, car was in lane # 3, Time was 8:40 AM PST. I emailed them already.

I wish there was a reward because I'm out of work.

SO BRINKS RESPONDED, THEY AGREED LEAVING THE KEYS IN AN ARMORED CAR IS NOT GOOD!

Rick,

I would like to thank you for pointing out a security issue with one of our trucks on Tuesday March 16th. You were quite right that this is not the norm and a security issue.

We have fixed the issue and taken steps so that this won't happen again.

Thank you for taking the time to point the situation out to Brinks.

Regards,

Lynn Dorsey

Crazy.

Speaking of banks and bailouts, I'm amazed people continue to deposit money in the largest US banks. It's obvious these people shouldn't be trusted with your money and would have been out of business without Big Brother's (see: taxpayer) bailout. Despite that people continue to do business with them. Insane!

My bank didn't take a dime of bailout money and they're a four star bank on bankrate.com.

No work and on the road at 0900? You should be sleeping 'til noon! :D

If you're out of work and without income you still need food, survival stuff and medical appointment. There is no free ride. But I did get a free ride if I went to work with my buddy as a passenger. Sleeping till noon sounds nice though, and sometimes I do take advantage.

Im pretty sure there is more to opening an armored car than a key

You could be right. In the movie "HEAT" they used lots of extra stuff and a pretty nice shaped charge. Some movie, DeNero, Al Pacino and Val Kylmer. What a cast?
