I signed up with Cingular last Saturday and got the Ericsson R300Z phone. I really like the phone and the rate plan was good. But, I cannot connect to the network inside my house or inside restruants. Outside the phone works fine. I wonder if it could be my phone or if the service just sucks. Anyone else had this problem or any suggestions. I'm going back to the Cingular store today to complain.

I think it's probably the fone...

I have the T28World and I've had no problems at all... I can even talk in tunnels... :)

You can't talk inside houses or restaurants? Something isn't right there. Either:

A) They've somehow been able to restrict access from such locations without drastically reducing overall quality

B) The phone is just a POS!

Take it back. I have a really old junky motorola cell phone and it works anywhere, although it only lasts like half an hour and it heats up terribly, etc. Sometimes it turns off by itself too. But it works in houses/restaurants.

Don't some restuarants have jammers that block signals? That has to be a great invention. I hate cell phone users in restuarants.:D

not sure, but I know my house dosen't have a jammer. If I'm in the living room next to the window I can get a signal, but if I go to my study, where I would like to be able to use it, I dosen't work at all.

daveman, for quality of connection Motorola is the best, then Nokia, then Ericsson (when considering just those three cell phone providers). I personally prefer Nokia's as they have the best user interface and a good signal.

I have the Cingular Plan, w/ the Ericcson 512 Web Phone. It really depends on the Area for me. In town here I've got pretty good coverage, but the area around where I work, is pretty lousy, and going inside there, i may as well turn the phone off. I do like the Rates that Cingular has, but the rest of the service is OK, at best. I guess you get what u pay for!

Do you guys think if I exchanged my Ericisson for the Nokia 5190 or 3390 it would make a big difference in my reception?

cingular just sucks... their plans are great (especially for me where free weekends/nights is very important when calling my gf) but their systems are always overloaded... they need to get more towers and all that good stuff

They are really not that overloaded in my area, I don't think (statesville,NC). Alltel seems to have the nitch around here. I just liked their plans better so I thought I would give them a shot.

Cingular used to be bellsouth down here, and bellsouth SUCKED the big one.

Sprint PCS was my savior, and I like them 'cept that all their deals rquire long commitments now. But, overall, service and coverage is only bested by AT&T since their phones are tri-band, and their plans don't carry roaming.

I cancelled yesterday. They were nice about it. They even let me try a Nokia to see if it was any better. It was a little better but not good enough. I guess now its between Alltel and Verizon.

i don't know where you live, but in the NJ area, verizon by far has the best coverage. after verizon, att and cingular are tied. cingular = att. same network in this area. may not be true in other areas.

I'm about 40 miles north of Charlotte,NC. I'm thinking Alltel may have the best coverage around here but I'm not real sure.
