no, i dident go matrox dual head or geforce 2 mx dual head
i just slapped a pci card in, but i gotta say, this is cool. i cant wait till this weekend when i format and stick win 2k on, i hear it has alot better dual monitor support =)

but i wouldent mind being able to run 3d games on one monitor and web surf on the other, hehe.. i guess thats next to impossible tho.

oh, ive used win2k before, i just love it, only reason im not on it now is because i had to format and i had my win2k cd lent out at that time so i put win me in instead, which i dont like one bit.

oh, and my name is phil too.. think of the alias like "see phil, see phil kill, Kill Phil kill" hehe

ahh that seems to be the only thing i here about win me, dont like it, i havent gotten to even try it yet, soo. . .i dont know for sure, how bad is it compared to win 98se? btw, i think 98se is the best, i might only switch to linux, when its a linux based on 98se

I thought Win2K dual monitor support was worse than 98/ME. Was that changed with the latest service pack 1?

You can set which monitor/video card to be the primary display and which to be the secondary on the fly with win2k. But if you got win98/ME, you will take what your mobo give you. Some motherboard simply don't give you the option of detecting AGP first, so you will have to use the PCI card as the primary disply. If that is the case, you will have to use the PCI card as the primary under win98 as well, but in win2k, you can still set the AGP as primary. That's about the only benefit you got with win2k from my experience runing dual monitor and dual booting Win98 and Win2k. But that is a big advantage since I can control which video card I want to use to play game. I got TNT2 Ultra and Voodoo3 3k, so I can set either one to primary and play games that looks better on that video card.

In windows ME I have to boot up with AGP and reinstall the PCI card to get both working together. But then the damned SIII crashes when waking up from suspends.
Win2K does it better, manages resources right and it doesn't crash... when will I get over dumb Diamond cards?

Why cant you be playing a game on one monitor and surfing on one? I do that. No problem over here with 98se. I really like playing DVDs and suring a bunch

because whatever ap ur in gets primary control, so if ur surfing the game looses keyboard control, also some games dont l;ike you switching in and out constantally, espically in win2k

syborg1211, that should work without you losing control of the game right? could you use a gamepad? to keep control of the game

Actually, scratch that. I meant like having a explorer open and reading it in between all the slow parts of like stacraft or something like that. I just ATL+TAB to get to the explorer in order to scroll down or talk to my friends on AIM or what have you

I've mucked around with an old S3 ViRGE card in Win2K and I could ONLY run two displays in Win2K with the S3 as primary. The primary didn't matter in Win98SE (other video is the onboard Intel 810).

Right now, I run the i810 as primary with a Matrox Millennium as secondary in Win2K, Win98SE, and Linux (XFree86 4.0). In BeOS, only the Maxtrox is used (even though it is not primary. Kinda weird since the i810 is supported and is used just fine when it is the only display).
