Okay I am dual booting 2K and ME, I put 2K on an NTFS partition. When i run HDtach under 2K it says my CPU utilization i slike around 50%. I checked task manager and it reported about an average of 50% with it being at full load for a few seconds. When i run HDtach on ME the CPU utilization is around 3-4%. I am assuming the differance is due to the extra options of the NTFS partition. So how do i check which options are set since I don't need them all. If you don't understand what i mean, i am talking about encryption, compression, those things. Thanks

This has nothing to do with your file system. Check the Win 2K device manager/ide controllers/advanced and enable DMA.

Dang John, do you follow me around to every post i make? Well I appreciate the help, so keep up the good work. First of all, see what I mean about knowing enough to get a job. But anyway heres the deal, I almost forgot about that until you mentioned it. I don't have the ability to enable DMA under 2K. I am using the ECS K7S5A, I heard that there is some file you can use to allow enabling of DMA, but not sure what it is. I am in ME now, i will have to check out 2K just to make sure I didn't miss it. But I still do need to know how to change the options of NTFS

Dang, I have been up for too long. I have DMA if available set under 2K, but heres the deal, I have my CDRW, LS120 and ZIP250 on my Primary and secondary IDE controllers. MY hard drives are on a maxtor controller card, is there any way to enable DMA on it?
