Transistor or Tube? There are people who swear that nothing beats the sound quality of old tube based amps.

you wont find a vintage Tube amp for <100 if you tried.it costs $100 on ebay just for replacement tubes. they will run about $200+ if you want a decent one. this is trans. just for that fact. and vintage tubes will need replaced at some point.

My father still has a tube amp but it's been relegated to the stereo in the basement. He replaced it with a Harmon Kardon amp a few years ago. I know he really liked the tube amps sound, not sure why he replaced it, maybe tubes were getting expensive *shrug*

tubes are expensive to replace and the older runs will die slowly and normally you need to kepp all tubes matched.

Tube amps are great, and hardly prone to failure contrary to what everyone would believe. The Dynaco ST70 is legendary. :D

Eli is modding his speakers sometime. He gave me the dimensions to his box and these put out a nice curve and are the same ones used in the Lyra's so he can reuse them later to upgrade his kit.

Yellow, acoustic suspension 3400in³. Green, bass reflex 3400in³, port 1- 2.875"x5"

Wow.

You got a really nice deal.

To quote ribbon13, "if he gets that for $80.. that would be... incredible."

:D

Congrats.

well tubes can be unprone to failure but most of the tubes that were in my price range all had fuzzy output caused by one or more tubes. and a set of tubes go for ~80+.
