Just scanned and removed 400 threats with AVAST

I just scanned for viruses and removed over 400 threats. Now no internet connection, even though the network drivers are still installed.

What can I do to get internet connection back?

Now run DBAN to remove the rest of the malware (the stuff Avast didn't detect), reinstall Windows and secure it.

Or if you're not quite ready for that step... if it's WinXP SP2, log onto an Admin account, click Start > Run, and type netsh winsock reset in the Run box and click OK. Then reboot. See if that gets you back online. I'd suggest doing additional malware-removal scans with other antivirus products, and perhaps a HijackThis analysis, before you trust the system again.
