Been meaning to stop by more often. I've been friends with tweakmonkey for over a decade and was the Senior Editorial Assistant for DailyTech during the first 2-3 years or so. It's been a while since I posted on the AT forums, mainly because I forgot my log in information and thought it was tied to a different email.

Anyways, I'm Tuan. I love cars and tech. I do background marketing and tech stuff for ZOTAC during the day and play with cars for Tom's Hardware for funsies.

My personal car is a 2014 Mazda 5 Sport 6MT that's also the project car for Tom's.

You can read about the project below -

I just picked up a 2015 Nissan Leaf SL premium for my wife, after spending two weeks in the press car (review in progress). We traded in her 2011 VW Routan in to get it.

I have a think for quirky cars. My car history includes an E39 touring, 1990 Miata, '08 HHR SS 5MT, '83 Audi Coupe GT, '91 Infiniti M30 convertible and two Saturn SL2's.

I figured I joined up after seeing most recommendations for family car = minivan, which seems like my type of group.

Didn't one of the mags swap a Speed3 drivetrain into a 5 years ago? Wouldn't that be easier than bolting a turbo onto the 2.5L?

Car & Driver did it. I spoke to the guy in charge and they were never able to get it running properly, even with the AEM EMS. The ECUs are completely different since the turbo motor is direct injected. Unless you swap everything from the dash forward, its a pain in the ass process. The stock 2.5 MZR can handle about 250-270whp boosted, which is perfectly fine for me.
