Pretty good movie. Big variation from the comic, so be warned. Also quite long, weighing in at over 2 hours. But Wolverine kicked total arse :)

EDIT: Btw, I went with a friend who works for the movie theatre. It's a private screening they had for employees and friends. Same things going to happen with Matrix Reloaded :)

So, how was it compared to the first movie? The sequel alsways has a tough task of beating the original.

Probably not due to the length. Thought LOTR: TT was an amazing movie but wouldnt pay to see that again, with the length being a factor (hey I'm cheap) but it's definitely a tape worthy of buying, which is saying alot. I haven't bought a VHS/DVD since LOTR: FOTR first came out.

I'd say it stacked up just as good if not better. But the fight scenes with Wolverine are amazing, i'll tell you that much.

Yep. I saw it last night. I promise I wont give anything away, but I will say it's definately better than the first one. I honestly liked X-men the movie, but felt it was just a little bit wishy washy and bland for a true comic fan. This time, they really went out of their way to show mutants doing what they do best, showin off their powers.

Nightcrawler was played wonderfully. In fact, the first 10 min was extremely wicked. I believe he was played by the same guy that played Toad in the last flick and Darth Maul in Episode 1.

They finally made Wolverine the badass that he should be. He fought more like a trained combatant (like in the comics) than just a pure street brawler with claws (like in the first movie). People were cheering him along. It was still a bit clumsy, but good.

They left it WAY wide open for sequel. In fact, if you are an X-men comic fan, you pick up half way through the flick what is going to happen at the end and what way they are going. It kinda pissed me off that they were going to screw with the comic storylines that much to bring the coolness in, but I forgave them. They really made the transition smooth and tried to come up with their own explination. Not to mention, the action involved damn cool too.

Overall, I would see it again and will be waiting for the DVD to purchase. I really like the direction superhero movies are taking recently. They are not doing it with a "Hey, it's superman! Ain't that cool!" style anymore. It's really showing depth and staying as true to the comic within reason. Sure, there are sme glaring problems if you are a purist, but what franchise out there isn't butchered by hollywood?

Hey, I think I gave my opinion without giving away one plot detail. Took alot of effort, but I hope this psyches some of you out there into going to see it. Definately a good start to the summer season. Next up, Matrix!

Ok, Ok. I was wrong. Nightcrawler is played by our Caberet' buddy Alan Cumming. Toad and Darth Maul is played by Mr. Ghostbuster, Ray Park.

Alright, he didn't sing ghostbusters. But it would have been cool if he did....

Yeah, I was great. The language kinda surprised me for a PG-13 movie. This movie does cater to adults well.

So you think they are setting it up for the "Dark Phoenix" saga?

Dude, you may want to edit that last sentence out...too much of a spoiler there.

You too ;)

Actually, I work for a comic shop thats right next to the theater, and they let us in on all their private screenings. We get to see the Matrix almost a week before it comes out.

And yes, X2 was AWESOME. Yes, they strayed from the comic, but thats because they had to combine storylines for this movie. I counted 4 different storylines myself, though the fourth might have just been my own thinking :p

Nightcrawler was close to stealing the show :)
