And how, exactly, were they going to stop them when the first people made phone calls hiding behind the seats? There weren't that many terrorists on the plane.

Maybe I'm giving terrorists a little too much credit, but I'd like to think that they would be a little smarter than to let a bunch of people keep their cellphones, or their credit cards in order to use the on-flight phones. I mean, they would have planned something like this almost to perfection.

I think the main reason why I'm arguing is because I don't exactly know what happened on that flight. I remember the news saying something about a phone call, but I don't know what it was about. Perhaps if someone filled me in, it would make a little more sense to me.

You didnt watch the movie? You gave it bad review and didnt watch the movie? All these questions would be answered if you had carefully watched the movie. They were using phones built into the back seats of the planes.

I did watch the movie, I meant that I didn't fully know what actually happened (ie. real life). And if I recall correctly, you need to use a credit card to activate those phones.

The movie was as close as they could piece together as to what actually happened in real life. Even some of the "actors" in the movie were actually the real people involved in the real event (obviously nobody on the plane).

So you're saying the terrorists should have confiscated all credit cards from all passengers prior to hijacking?

 "We have a bomb, please place your cellphone, wallet, etc, in this bag."

At that time, according to other posters, they had no reason to believe they were going to die, so they have no reason not to comply.

Thats still exposing yourself. If you were a terrorist you want to be in control. Asking 40 people to hand over their wallets and what not is definitely NOT that. Especially when you are outnumbered 10 to 1.

The point of the attack was shock/awe/fear as the method of control. Keep that in mind.

You know if they didnt take that much time to plan...they would have had a good 5-10min more to storm the cockpit and POSSIBLY takeout the two and have that one passenger who was a pilot before take over.I remember when watching this movie I kept saying"hurry up"...i dont know if it would've made a difference.

This is correct. The terrorist were desperately hoping that the passengers would remain terrified to the point where they would comply with whatever they said. If the terrorist had asked for cell phones, credit cards, and wallets; it would have made it seem like they were themselves worried about what the passengers might do to them. It would have reversed the effect of "shock/awe/fear" which was their primary goal.

Keep in mind also that had the terrorists asked for the aforementioned items, nothing was stopping any of the passengers from hiding them. The terrorists would have spent the entire flight nervously searching for cell phones/etc. instead of attempting to keep them wrapped in fear.

LoKe, the reason the hijackers had no plan for keeping the passengers in the dark is that all four planes were supposed to take off, get hijacked, and crash at around the same time. United 93 was late taking off from Newark, and one thing led to another.
