Ok - Pretty good movie and I like it better than "Unbreakable." Anyways, is it me or am I lost in regards to the plot of this movie? I knew what his other two movies were about, but this one lost me.

1 - Were there really aliens?
2 - Why the constant flashback to his wife's accident?
3 - I understood the girl's obsession with the water, but the boy and his asthma?
4 - The last scene...what the heck happened? Flashback or future?

did you do a search? i think ive seen 3 or 4 threads on this movie in the past day or two..

if they dont cover your questions i guess you can consider this a bump😉

1 - Were there really aliens?
Yes... I guess lol
2 - Why the constant flashback to his wife's accident?
no idea
3 - I understood the girl's obsession with the water, but the boy and his asthma?
Notice she left the water all over the place ;-) and how the boy didnt die ;-) How lucky can you get ?? ;-)
4 - The last scene...what the heck happened? Flashback or future?
neither.
He believes in god again cause of what happen; the little girl putting the 1/2 filled cups of water all over the place that killed the alien and the boy didnt die from whatever that alien did.

Im not sure, i suck at thinking movies 🙂

1 - Were there really aliens?

YES

2 - Why the constant flashback to his wife's accident?

That's how he stopped believeing, AND how he regained his faith. Nothing is a coincidence....

3 - I understood the girl's obsession with the water, but the boy and his asthma?

Nothing is a coincidence....

4 - The last scene...what the heck happened? Flashback or future?
If you mean him getting dressed, he had regained his faith and is once again a reverend

DID YOU WATCH THE FREAKING MOVIE?

That's like asking if there was really a midget in Goldmember.

Were you on drugs when you watched the movie? It really wasn't that hard to comprehend. Watch it sober next time.

Also, this thread is a repost of a repost of a repost of a repost!. 😉

what a terrible ending... water? C'mon... they ruined a perfectly good movie with that weakass ending.

I Take it you haven't read much science fiction. It is a common knowledge that water and Martians do not mix. One story has the first Americans who explore Mars find a well dug in the ground that is actually a cremation site. The Martians take their dead, and throw them in the well of water, which just dissolves the body.

Not weak.

1. Yes there were aliens.

2. The whole movie was about Mel Gibsons lack of faith. He lost his faith because of his dead wife. Main part of the story.

3. The boy had asthma his entire life just so his lungs would be closed when the alien shot the poison at him. NO COINCIDENCES.

4. Mel is a priest again. He has found his faith again.

Seriously, why the hell would aliens land on a planet covered by 70% water. How screwed were they, and damn what are they thinking going into the middle east, they got the big lesson of don't get between the palestinian and Israelie fighting.

I think the comprehension ability of today's average person is next to nil.

If you paid attention to anything that went on in the movie the point had nothing to do with the aliens. It was about faith and about fate/miracles versus coincidence.
Would you prefer they tacked on another half hour to turn it into a clone of Independence Day?
