I'm pretty sure his comment was tongue in cheek.

imo, they could have picked someone better for the lead role than Tom Hanks (no offense to Tom, but I can't picture him as the main character in the book)...

Seriously. Tom Hanks is just too goofy. I thought someone like Russel Crowe would have been perfect.

I was very impressed when I read the book...until I read Dan Brown's OTHER books, like "Digital Fortress". I know very little about the topic of the DaVinci Code, so it sounded good to me, but seeing the total lack of factual basis in "Digital Fortress", I have to wonder about the rest of his books as well. Not that I really need realism in my fiction, but the book made a little too much of a big deal about how realistic it was. Of course the movie could still be good...I just am not looking forward to it as much any more.

Never know, Tom Hanks can mold into any role. he's so versaitile. He's alright..

I thouhgt the casting of Teabing could've been better. I envisioned a fat Michael Cain, and not a skinny, serious, Ian Mckellen (although, I do like the actor).

I think it has a solid cast, and Ron Howard's directing (remember Beautiful Mind, his directing of the special effects, like when Crowe's character started to see patterns and stuff, was really good).

and people make too much deal about the "Facts" in the book. a lot of it is just ongoing theories that are being discussed withing bible scholars. These are just theories, and nothing more. No reason to get so critical about it. I enjoyed the book for what it was.
I hope they make Angels and Demons as well, and the 3rd book that's not out yet, to complete the Langdon trilogy. Dude, the guy's a pimp. Harvard professor that gets to do 2 hot, prominent chicks in two different books?

An "Indiana Jones" of acadamia of sorts.
A trilogy in movie form would be awesome lol.

Digital Fortress was about cryptography and the NSA. Like I said, somewhat amusing, but the technical stuff he threw in sounded like he read some intro to crypto book and just threw words randomly together. If you don't know anything about that field, it might be a interesting, but it just hosed up the details. Which is ok if that's not a major part of the story, but Dan Brown makes a big deal out of how accurate he is...

the albino guy seems too scrawny though, in the book he is made out to be a tall well toned methodical strong person

in the trailers he looks very skinny

The exact same thing happend to me on his "Deception Point" novel. I can suspend disbelief like nobody's business (I'm a Clive Cussler fan for Christ's sake) but Brown's style just irks me.

People only hated the book cause they want to go against what is popular. They don't realize that things are sometimes popular because it's GOOD.

Exactly. The closing scene I was 5 miles ahead of them at every step, too.
