Just saw the chase scene in Ronin, it was pretty good! Watch it here!

I don't watch much TV. I've spent 60 minutes watching it in the last 30 days. So I'm making a grilled cheese sandwich and I turn on the tube and end up watching the chase scene from Ronin (robert deniro) thru the streets of Paris.

I forgot how good that chase was. So I'm forced to recall other good chases.

The Bourne Idenity
Bullit w/ Steve McQueen
The French Connection
The Italian Job
The Burglars (1972)
The Blues Brothers (comedy chase)
Vanishing Point (1970's)

Am I missing any?

You're right. I watched the original "Gone in 60 Seconds" in the 70's. That movie was good for the time. It also appealed to high school kids into cars in the 1970's.

An old movie from the 80's has a good one.

To Live and Die in LA has a pretty good car chase scene.

Has William L. Petersen from CSI Las Vegas in one of his very early movie roles.

If it interests you in any way, my wife adds that you can see his penis in this movie as well. 😛

You didn't specify car chase ... so the chase scene at the beginning of the new Casino Royale is pretty sweet.

Thank you for the tip. I'll have to rent the movie next time I join Netflix. Last night I was busy hunting down video links so I watched the chase this morning. It's amazing how much mileage that chase covered in the city. That's a lot of planning.

I watched The Burglars (1971) chase which was my first movie chase scene in a movie theatre. I was able to track it down on DVD so I'll probably pick it up. A French stunt driving team did the effects and recieved cudos in the media.

Wow, just wow! These chase scenes are intense.

The chase in French Connection was nuts. It was filmed without planning and without any authorization from NYC! Friedkin was an ass for putting lives at risk, but it did lead to a good product.

That's interesting. I used to do the setups for many film crews so they could shoot movies, I worked for a major mtetropolitain city. I saw a lot of interesting stuff, good shootouts, but I've never watched them film a chase.

If you're into film-making, you should get the 2-disc version of The French Connection and watch the making-of documentary. Not only was it very interesting, Friedkin was brutally honest and hilarious.
