Just saw SW1 & SW2 for the first time

At anyrate, I didn't think SW1 was that bad. In fact I enjoyed it quite a bit, perhaps due to all the negative reviews that I've read.

In SW2 however, I was a bit confused by Owen & Bru, I always thought that they were really Obi's relatives and the Owen being Luke's uncle was just a cover story. But it looks like Owen and Bru really is Luke's uncle. What's the deal with that?

Am I also correct to assume that Yoda - Dooku - Qui Gon - Obi - Ani is the teacher-student relationship?

If Sidious is the dark lord of sith, why did he give up that "title" when Anikin becomes the dark lord?

I don't know jack about Owen and Bru, but I assume because he became all powerful emperor, which is why Anikin became the dark lord?

IIRC Owen was Lars' kid from his first wife (don't know what happened to her), so Luke is not related by blood to Owen.

Edit: it is also slightly less confusing to refer top the movies by episode number

Episode 4: A New Hope
Episode 5: Empire Strikes Back
Episode 6: Return of the Jedi

There is always only one Sith lord. Just like when Darth something got killed and Darth Malak took over the helm. As for why he will give up the title, I just assume he will be killed or die somehow. But in the later movies Vader was never the dark lord, he was always subservient to the emperor.

As for the Yoda, Dooku, etc thing.. Ani is a padawan, which is the lowest level of a person accepted to become a Jedi. He got that title after getting through Jedi training. The rest are all Jedi Masters which are the higest level guys.

sw1 was okay, sw2 was good for about the last 15 minutes. the rest of it was a bad teenage actor who couldn't make up his mind. he acts like that kid from Sidekicks (not chuck norris, the other kid ... i forget his name!) and they both suck!

I don't even know if I will see part 3 in the theatre sine the past 2 were pretty sad. The only cool character to me was Darth Maul and he was taken out quick :(

EDIT: Oh yea ... forgot to put my flame suit on

/me puts flame suit on

there we go :)

yep, his uncle. never did they say they were obi-wan's friends/family.

there are always two dark lords of the sith, sidious didn't give up that position, but the sith operate in shadow, which is why neither vader nor palpatine are ever explicitly called dark lords of the sith by the imperial navy.

yoda may have taught qui gon, not sure about that. qui gon taught obi wan, obi wan taught anakin. anakin was later corrupted by sidious, probably after dooku dies somehow.

Good question about Owen and Bru, I have no idea about how they came to be Luke's guardians... perhaps we'll find out in EP3.

Yoda didnt necessarily train Dooku, and Dooku didnt necessarily train Qui Gon.

Really? I thought it was always one leader and one student type.. like Sideous and Maul in the first movie and Vader and the Emperor in the later movies, and Reven and Malak in KotoR.. no? Or are both considered to be Sith Lords?

Yoda basically says as much in their scene near the end of EP2.

Malak was under Revan I believe, and only took over once Revan was pronounced dead.

Also, it's Beru, not Bru.

What he said.

And yes, it doesn't make sense that Amidala would leave one of her kids with the Lars family since Anakin clearly is acquainted with them and might think of looking there.

Perhaps all will be made clear when Ep III comes out.

I don't think Amidala had much choice in the matter for reasons that I will not state here. Vader himself comments that it was wise of Obi Wan to hide the children from him.

Your right, originally Uncle Owen was OB1's brother. He was resentful of OB1 becoming a Jedi and how he was taken at such a early age. This little piece of trivia was introduced in a short story by Timothy Zahn. But Lucas being the POS that he is decided to change it to better fit his pathetic attempt at a story.

Yes, Sidious is Palpatine. Also, I think since Palpatine took the title of emperor Vador took the role of Dark Lord of the Sith. While Palpatine was the top dog Vador also took on apprentices of his own.

Ah, okay, I knew I read that somewhere. Thanks, it was nagging me last night after I watched the movie, I couldn't sleep. :D

So who is the Jedi that order the clone army from Kamino? Is he really dead? And who erased the planet from the archive?

I thought almost all the Jedi were eventually "liquidated" by EP4 except for Vader and the Emperor, including the other dark ones.

Well it all depends on perspective actually. If you use a Lucas view they probably were but if you actually read any of the books you learn that it isn't quite so. First off the Clone Wars were not just an entire army of clones, instead Sidious started cloning Jedi. Since they were clones they were able to be turned to the Dark Side easier. Also, Sidious found a way to increase the speed at which clones matured by using a creature that created a force bubble around the clones (Yasmari). Most of these clones were killed of but at least one survived (Jorus Cobath). Also, there was the Emperor's hand, who was a force sensitive assassin. There was a Sith Training academy that surfaces later in the books as well.

I admit that the films are my main source of reference. I have not yet gotten into reading the books even though a couple of my friends have been on me to do so.

If you do start, start with the Trawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. They are the books that made the Star Wars novels what they are today.

Be careful though they are addicting. I bought one when I went on vacation and got hooked. Since then I have read them all. I love books where you can just pick them up and go.
