Just got home from Vancouver Washington. Satellite Party (Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction + Porno for Pyros) opened for Pumpkins. First time for me seeing Pumpkins in concert.

Satellite Party wasn't bad. Heard Jane Says, Stop, and others. Pretty good show but it didn't seem like the musicians were really all together. It sounded like a band that hasn't been around long and are still learning to play like a group, which really surprised me.

Pumpkins didn't play Zero! I was waiting and waiting and waiting for them to play Today. After about 2 hours, the lights finally went out and they left the stage. My buddy and I stayed there for a few minutes while people filed out and, sure enough, stage lights slowly started glowing and they snuck back on stage for an absolute POWERHOUSE encore. What did they play for their encore? Today. :D :D :D Happy boy. Their stage presence, especially Corgan's, was pretty good. As expected, they were tight and very, very good.

DAMN that was a good concert. :)

What other old stuff did they play? Mayonaise? (my favorite SP song)

Didn't hear that, I don't think. I'm not too familiar with their music. I know I like their blockbusters but I've never owned any of their albums to listen to them more closely. I will now, though. That was great. :)

Nuno (guitar player) and the drummer unexpectedly quit the band about 2 months ago. But that doesn't really excuse them for being sloppy at this point.

I was semi-interested when I heard Nuno Bettencourt was playing with Perry, but I'm kinda meh about it after hearing some of the album.

Smashing Pumpkins was the first Concert in Portland's Rose Garden Arena when it first opened. I was there and they put on a great show.

I would have loved to seen them at Ridgefield. That's a pretty decent venue, I saw Def Leppard and Styx there on the 12th and we had a great time (suprisingly kick-ass show despite the fairly short sets...and aged rockers)

I saw satellite party back in the summer, they were meh live. Course I had no idea what they were singing. I always laugh at the way that guy pronounces their name.

wouldn't mind seeing SP live though!
