 the music is so simple but hits very hard.

He's a real talented guy.

His band sucks and the movie is not that great, IMO.

Aronofsky always puts style ahead of story and that is a grave mistake in my opinion.

unparalleled, yet surpassed. watch 2001 a space odyssey. 2001 is great at what it tries to do, but it doesn't have much depth beyond the "drugs are bad" theme

Wait. 2001 was a drug movie?

Anyway I think Requiem was made to deilver only one message, and it got it across better than any other theme behind a movie, at least IMO.

oops. should have read that over. requiem is great at what it tries to do, but it doesn't have much depth beyond the "drugs are bad" theme.

and i agree with you. no movie has outdone requiem in this genre of movies.

I think the mom's story was much more depressing than the other characters' because she was not doing anything wrong to begin with, and was just following the doctor's instructions. The other characters were involved with drugs from the start, so it was easier to see them getting into trouble later on.

BTW, are there even any drugs prescribed for fat loss that are as potent as the ones taken by the mom in RfaD? My limited understanding was that current prescription diet pills were not nearly as powerful as they were portrayed in the movie.

I love Clint Mansell's Requiem for a Dream (Remix) orchestral, but I hate saying "requiem."

I think the mother's part was one of the scariest and saddest parts of the movie. It made what happened to the other characters look dull in comparison.

Also, I'm pretty sure what the doctor gave the mother weren't diet pills - Harry himself even said they were uppers. They had a scene where the mother went around and cleaned the entire house, so I'm guessing the doc gave her speed or something. And the doctor was obviously not a legit doctor...

Heh, I watched the movie in the dark using headphones so each time the fridge jumped, I cringed.

It might be a good movie if you do drugs or something. I found it rather boring and stupid.
