Umm, Narnia is definitely not only a kids book, there is some serious and intricate underlying meaning.

Well, it's still different than LOTR since LOTR is not a kids book. Narnia has the added constaint to include the elements which are for children, ie what people in this thread called "shallow". It's better to go into the theatres thinking of Harry Potter (although that story is getting a bit dark) than LOTR.
