Was in a store yesterday and they had Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations all on display right next to each other.

I can cut Costco a bit of slack as they are selling to small businesses that have to buy the Christmas crap ahead of time to build their own premature displays.

The thing I don't get is why stores would have seasonal shit that they'd discount sharply to get it out. Fucking put it in storage and try to sell it next year (and maybe if after 2-3 years it doesn't sell, hopefully with maybe some thought on adjusting price, then clearance it).

Oh, I give zero fucks about "oh my gawd, they start X-mas early every year" (which most of the people bitching about that are the ones claiming there's a "war on X-mas" but then they tend to be hypocritical idiots in general). Have it year round for all I care. Maybe design things so they could be used for more than just one specific holiday/event. Especially if its stuff like LED light strings. Or those light projectors, make them programmable to show different scenes/designs/colors. And doubly so if you are smart about it (like put in a permanent lighting setup when you build the house so you don't need to put it up and/or take it down every year, and if you are thinking about it from the get go you could make it suitable for other times or even everyday).

For Disney. This is getting a little ridiculous

Was this for like a thing at their parks? Or was it for their content?

For the former, I actually think the earlier would make a lot of sense for that. I don't see people in Dec or even Nov going suddenly, "hmm, yeah let's go to Disney!"

For the latter, eh. I mean we get movie and game trailers for stuff that is years away, so its hardly that big of a deal.

Dear god...that is so wrong.

Stores have no respect for the seasons....

My favourite was seeing Canadian Tire setup for summer, Halloween and Christmas all at the same time.

BBQs, inflatable grim reapers, nativity scenes and Christmas trees all within the same area. It's one of those times where I would love to just completely rearrange stuff and make a completely ludicrous display like setting up a Santa Claus figure in front of a BBQ next to the grim reaper sitting on a patio set.

Throw some random school supplies on the patio table and you pretty much got all the big sales covered. :D
