This movie was so dumb, so slow, no plot, hardly any dialogue. I turned it off an hour or so through, kept watching hoping for it to pick up. It sucked ass, worst movie of the year.

Cinematography was the only thing that let me watch this movie. And that only got me about 3/4 of the way through.

well, I could relate to the feeling of being in a completely foreign world from my own experience of going to China for a month. I thought the cinematography was great. I just liked watching the relationship between the two main characters grow. they had a real friendship despite their differences in age and life experiences.

jack didn't say that....tyler did

if you watch the dvd extras, you learn that jack is the name given to Norton's character in the script, even though it is never used on film.

After all the hype about this film, my wife and I were not impressed with it at all. We found it quite boring infact.

I totally agree. This movie was completely retarded.

The only reason it got as much press coverage as it did is because it was directed by Francis Ford Coppola's daughter - Sophia Coppola. It was supposed to be her big "directing debut"... Sorry - she doesn't have a clue how to direct a movie.

Don't believe all the media hype because this movie is a total BOMB.

I got the movie thinking it would be interesting in a way like most movies, it was one of it's own kind and i just wasent renting it for the effect it had. That's why i thought it sucked.

it would have been pretty frickin hard for pitt and norton to know whose lines were whose if they were both called tyler in the script ;)

I even watched the DVD extras hoping to find something interesting to watch. But ultimately learned that Sophia Coppola is even more boring than the film. :)

I agree that the extras were painfully dull.

I completely disagree. Lost in Translation was good because it wasn't a typical movie. Most need action or profound dialog, but this was more about subtleties from actors' faces and gestures. It gets a little boring if you're used to excitement, but overall it's a great movie.
