My complete review:

"WHAT IN THE SAM HILL F*** DID I JUST WATCH????!!!!"

I challenge anyone here to go to the Wikipedia page for the movie, read the plot synopsis, and then tell me what the movie is about. I'm actually physically angry this movie was made. It's like they gave the director a bag of mushrooms and $40 million, locked him in a room, and then said "There...make something!"

....don't you guys know that you can't go into any Aronofsky flick without any sort of appreciation that you are going to be watching an Aronofsky flick? You should expect a mind-fuck.

Basically this. It's a cerebral film. Personally I enjoyed it a lot.

"Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "F" on an A+ to F scale"

Other publications wrote that the film's CinemaScore grade, which is extremely rare, is associated with "a movie that goes out of its way to artfully alienate or confuse audiences.

Guess it earned its F.

The best I can tell, the movie was about Jennifer Lawrence reacting to a new and completely unrelated situation every 90 seconds. She also shows her boobs.

It's actually a re-telling of the Adam and Eve story. :)

And Aronofsky makes his own movies, from concept to script to direction to final cut. It's always been that way.

This is why people are supposed to do a little diligence ahead of time before stumbling into the rabbit hole of getting mindfucked by an auteur like that when all they expected was "hey, this actor does some cute, quaint flicks. It must be just like that!"

I was doing some work on my laptop before bed and my wife turned the movie on. I wasn't really watching it, then started glimpsing at it, then started to try to figure out what the hell was going on, then thought everything would be explained at the end and it wasn't...and now I'm just pissed.

I really liked The Fountain, especially the visuals.

Requiem for a Dream was very well done, but the subject matter is hard to watch if you have a decent amount of empathy so I'd call it more memorable than enjoyable.

I haven't seen Mother! yet, but plan to watch it eventually on streaming or disc rental.

Used MoviePass for this one. If I had been watching at home I probably would have just turned it off but since I was at the theater I stuck it out. I don’t mind Aranofsky movies but this one was just too much. I spent the whole movie pissed off for Jlaw.

From the Wiki:
In an interview, Lawrence said that the film is an allegory; she said that the film "depicts the rape and torment of Mother Earth ... I represent Mother Earth; Javier, whose character is a poet, represents a form of God, a creator; Michelle Pfeiffer is an Eve to Ed Harris's Adam, there's Cain and Abel and the setting sometimes resembles the Garden of Eden".

Pretty much summarizes exactly what I thought the film was the first time I saw it.

Op: It's an Aronofsky film, you should know what you're getting into with him based on his previous stuff. Nothing after Requiem should be taken literally.

Yea that doesn't always workout with a bag of mushrooms, not sure about the 40 million though.

I loved this movie but yeah, it was pretty exhausting. If you suffer from anxiety just remember it's only a movie. :p

I am surprised no one has asked this yet. How were the boobs?
