I searched and did not see any posts on this movie.

Superb acting, excellent visuals, this is one of the most realistic war movies ever, even though fighting was only a small part of the movie.

The Corsair attack was visually impressive.

That is the companion movie to Flags of our Fathers right? I want to see that one also. Flags of our Fathers was an outstanding movie, I assume that the Japanese sided version is just as good.

i saw this the other night. Really good movie. The movie got slower as it progressed but the effect from it was amazing. Overall it was a good movie, i enjoyed it. the visuals were good, the lighting had a 1940's feel to it..

I just saw it this afternoon. Wonderful movie. It didn't make me cry as much as "Flags" but on the whole was a much better movie. Perhaps one of the best war movies ever made.

Agreed. He is the man!

He's like 75 but he can act, direct, and write his own movie scores. Not to mention he has more class in his pinkie than I can ever dream of having.

looking forward to the torrent.

I thought talking about stealing/pirating got you a ban from the mods? I've seen them ban others for talking about stealing music.

You deserve the same fate.

Looking forward to your banning.

BTW it's a good movie. Saw it last week.

Looking forward to the day that knee-jerk retards dont associate torrent with "stealing."

You retards do know that movie executives are considering torrents as a distribution medium, right? Wait, that cant be since torrents == stealing.

Oh, so it's in effect and the MPAA didn't just sue isohunt.com and it's ISP shut it down due to it supplying torrent movies illegally?

You're the retard here. Why the mods haven't banned you yet is beyond me.

Owned much?

i drove about 40min to see this movie today but damn im glad i did. i love clint eastwood as a director and i saw flags of our fathers and while i liked it, i thought it was mediocre but letters from iwo jima was so much better than foof. the emotions protrayed were sometimes so strong that it was hard to watch the screen sometimes. this is probably the best movie i have seen in a long time and i just saw children of men which was awesome. this movie is all about the emotions. damn if you have not seen this movie yet, please go find the closest movie where it is playing and see it now. i never cry in a movie and this almost brought a tear to my face.

It just told the Japanese point of view IMO.

I suppose if you "fall in love" with the Japanese characters and then watch them get attacked by Americans...this makes the movie anti-American to some people?

I think the message is clear in both movies: War is hell. And the soldiers who fight them aren't gods. They are simply normal people, motivated by the desire to save their brothers in arms, yet blinded by propaganda.

Propaganda? You mean like a completely unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor? That single event is what catapulted the United States into WWII. Yeah, war is hell. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy toward the Japanese for their actions during WWII though...nor the Germans.

When I say propaganda, I mean soldiers being convinced that the enemy are all savages or cowards, etc. And yes, the Japanese were certainly the former in many cases considering their treatment of POWs, but the average grunt on the ground for either side was neither. I think that is one of the points Clint tries to make with these films.
