Just saw ET

I saw this in the theater when it was first released. Maybe 5 or 6 times. Great movie.

I still love Reese's Pieces.

I recall that the day I saw ET in the theater was the same day my dad bought me Defender for my Atari 2600.

When I was growing up...I definitley was NOT treated to a movie at the theatre AND a new video game in the same day! Spoiled brat.

I've never seen it and I dont plan on even seeing it, it looks stupid.

in that case, you would be very pleasantly surprised if you watched it. An all-time classic.

Somebody also told me that Blade Runner was an all-time classic. The only good part was how hilarious the bad guy at the end looked and acted.

Walkie talkies suck.
Yes, but the original cut (guns and all) is *STILL* available on DVD.

And altonb1, I understand where your kids are coming from. When I saw E.T. for the first time (22 years ago), it scared the crap out of me at the beginning. However, once I got used to liking E.T., I was fine. And then those stupid government astronauts had to show up. 🙁

I guess that's what makes it such a great movie.

Meh.
I remember shaking my head in disappointment when my mom bought it on VHS for $70 when it came out in the 90s.

yeah the astronauts scared me more than ET, especially the way they break into the house all quiet and zombie-like. ET is funny in the bathtub. so what wakes ET from being dead? is it because his family is coming? my gf said it was the cold chamber that woke him up, but i thought he woke up because his family was getting closer to earth

That's pretty much it. He had lost hope that he wasn't going to be able to go home, but once he realized that he *was* going to be picked up, he perked right up and came back to life.
