Just saw Chronicles of Riddick!

Was I the only person who thought this movie rocked? It, by no means, was a perfect movie....but I walked away saying to myself "I just saw my first summer blockbuster action flick", to Kristin (btw, she liked the movie as well). I thought the visual effects were done extremelly well, minus the hounds on the jail-planet. The effects were nothing groundbreaking, but the movie deffinitly had a sense of sytle to it. I liked the acting, and I enjoyed the charcater, Riddick, more than the first one (Pitch Black). It was just a fun movie. Anyone else enjoy it?

My only gripes are:
- wtf were those CGI hounds in the movie? The CGI was done poorly, but then again, when has *any* movie done a good CGI dog/hound. Certainly not this movie or The Hulk.
- Almost every other shot of Riddick in the movie was an "over-the-shoulder" shot of Riddick that slowly pans in (Example: I know its not from the movie, but you get the point). If you havent seen the movie, look for it. It happens atleast 10 times.

have you got an IQ of 2. the movie sucked, it was so far fetched, it reminded me of xXx which sucked. and it had nothing to do with pitch black, and riddick wasnt even bad, he was just a kick a$$ killer he was the good guy

Why didn't you like XXX, because he could jump a motorcycle from flat ground over a 10+ foot fence? pshhh!!! I haven't seen Chronicles of Riddick yet but some reviewer described it as lots of Vin Diesel grunting and looking over his shoulder

I don't see how it could possibly be worse than Van Helsing. Van Helsing actually looked like sh!t from the previews alone.

Van Helsing looked like crap to me because I see a lot of movies. Guess what preview was on about every movie released from February to May? That's right...

Anyway, I'll be one of the first to admit that I'm not a huge Vin Diesel fan. I'll take the Rock over him any day just because I find him to be much more charismatic.

That being said, I can't really think of a single Vin Diesel movie that I disliked. I've been neutral on some, but never have I genuinely thought that I hated anything he's been involved with.

i saw it this weekend, and i give 3 out of 5 homebrews.

above average.



there are some redeeming qualities

1) effects and set design are pretty good.
2) action was good
3) all the characters are dark (minus one minor one)
4) love interest was kept to a minimal.
5) sniffer/tracker slaves were cool

drawbacks:

1) plot/scene transition was a bit schizophrenic
2) I wish they were more Matrix like, instead of just a collage of various comic book sequencing

Definitely better than Van Helsing.

I'd give it somewhere between 2-3/5 stars.

It went a little too "touchy-Feely" for what Riddick should be, IMO.

It should DEFINITLEY be up for costume awards, though.

I agree, better than Van Helsing.
I thought it was much better than the reviews that I read. Going into it I was expecting it to be a POS.
I was pleasantly surprised; it wasn't a bad movie at all.

Better than Van Helsing? I liked Van Helsing a lot . Well, not my favorite movie, but I greatly enjoyed it. So I guess I will also enjoy Riddick.
