I just came back from seeing a symphony! A free one outdoors, hehe... it was cool, they played Jupiter and Mars from The Planets and they played Bolaro and some other stuff... and Star Wars! haha... so who here regularly watches? Or even plays in a symphony or orchestra or something.

Sounds like a pops orchestra, not a symphony.

The composer of Bolero (Ravel) died long enough ago that his works are public domain.

Sweet. I was at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night for a kickass LA Philharmonic performance. They did Sensemaya by Revueltas, Debussy's Noctures, and Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe. It rocked.

True, but specific recordings of it by certain orchestras may well be under copyright.

Just about all recordings will be under copyright. It doesn't matter how old the composer is; even recordings of pieces by Hildegard von Bingam (c. 12th century I think) will be copyrighted.
