Catched a documentary where a Danish reporter travels round the American countryside and interviews different militias on their views and opinions. He visits both black and white people that are run by ministers and former army guys. I can't seem to recall the names of their leaders, but they were quite convinced everything was based on a government conspiracy. They were great speaker BTW, I guess thats why they're able to convince so many people. One guy claimed he had 10,000 armed men who could march through Washington DC at any time.

The feel of the program was like the documentary on Curt Cobain/Courtney Love, with that reporter from BBC.

Have any of you had any experience with these militias/live close to them? What do you think of their "conspiracy-theories"? Any truth behind them? As an outsider, I must say I belive there's alot of stuff going on behind the scenes in the US Gov. Just think they're overdoing it awhole lot.

I work with a guy who seems like a good candidate for a militia. He does believe in every conspiracy theory that comes along, owns more guns than he knows what to do with, is a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and just had a field day when that whole Y2K thing was going on. He's the most paranoid person I've ever met, and I think that's what you have to be to join a militia. And concerning the conspiracy theories, you believe them if you want to.

I'm not naive concerning corruption in our government. But I think human error is at the root of most of the popular conspiracy theories, not maliciousness on the part of our government.

Good luck. He brings them here during the week they will never make it to DC, they will be stuck in traffic. Plus we now have 4.5 million folks living here now so he will need a few more people in his militia before he can take over.

I don't know, there are some pretty rough neighborhoods in D.C. For the longest time it was the murder capital of the U.S.

Yeh some of those milita types are whackos, but its a constitutional right to form a militia.

My boss is one of those REALLY paranoid people. He has kept a beard for the past 30 years just in case he has to run from the government. I find his attitude very amusing.

I forgot to mention this also. My boss seriously though that the government was going use the Y2K thing to declare marshall law and take everyone's guns. He had his house all ready to fight off the FBI.

One guy said:

Militia Man: "I'm not afraid to say this in front of the camera: I do believe that the white race is superiour."

Reporter: "Why do you believe that?"

Militia Man: "Tell you this, I'll wait until they've built their own trans-african railroad etc etc (alot of referrals to white achievements). Then I'll stop thinking us superiour. Every black man in America should fall to their knees and thank the mighty lord that we brought them here away from that place" (Something along those lines).

Seems pretty sick to me.
