Best experience I ever had at the movies. I was either 7 or 8 when Raiders hit the screen - I still remember my Dad telling me we were going to see a movie with "Han Solo" (I was, not surprisingly, a huge Star Wars fan). The instant that giant boulder came rolling down at Indy I was absolutely hooked. Looking back, it was a fairly violent movie, but you used the right word - it was just magic. I probably saw it another 4 or 5 times that summer - someone's parents would take a bunch of us to see it as a weekend matinee. I asked my Dad later if he knew how good it was going to be - he said all he knew about it was that someone at work told him it was good & that it had than Han Solo guy from Star Wars.
Little did I know that a year later I'd get the chance to see E.T. months before it came out w/ Spielberg in the theater, but that's another story.
