Alright, this is how the internet setup goes:

DSL modem to Netgear router
4 ethernet cords come from the netgear router, one to my xbox, one to my htpc, one to my gaming pc, and one that goes to the buffalo router upstairs
So then netgear router goes to buffalo router via a 100' ethernet(acting as a bridge, gives off wireless to tenants upstairs)

Wireless does have a password, but i dont have anything wireless down here. I'm having problems connecting the gaming pc to the internet. I have tried directly connecting it to the modem, still no luck. The xbox and htpc work fine. I don't have any clue whats wrong, i just reformatted, and i get "aquiring network address" for about 2 minutes, then "little or no connectivity"

please help, i can post any screenshots that you need. I do have windows firewall turned off everywhere. I did the ipconfig/all on my htpc (the pc im using to type this) and entered all this into the "manual settings" for the internet configuration on the gaming pc, still no luck. any ideas?

Every looks OK and your computer does not obtain a vaild IP?

Assuming that the Network Cable is OK, that the Router have free DHCP IPs to give, and No filtering/security to the wired computers section.

Try a static IP that is on the Router's subnet but not within the DHCP range.

I did ipconfig/all on the gaming computer, heres what it came up with:

IP routing enabled: no
wins proxy enabled: no
dhcp enabled: yes
autoconfiguration enabled: yes
autoconfiguratoin ip address: 169.254.26.133
subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
default gateway: (blank)

and, lol, i dont remember my router's ip number. its not the stock one, i changed it to work with the bridged router. I'm afraid that if i reset the netgear one here, it will ruin the setting for the bridge, which equals no internet upstairs, then I'm screwed because i have no access to a ladder to get to the buffalo router in the attic. are there any automatic ip checkers?

autoconfiguratoin ip address: 169.254.26.133 means that the computer can not find/obtain an IP from the DHCP.

I.e there is No valid connetion between your computer and the Router or there is one but the Router does not respond to this computer.

Do the IP config from a working computer. If you Network installation is normal the default gateway entry should be the IP of the Router.

Or you can download this free utility and run it from a working computer (good to have it any way).

i did the scan with that utility, and it came up with a couple ip's, which then i entered into the gaming pc's browser, nothing.

Since the Game PC Network is Not working there is No point to try anything on the Network from the game PC.

You have to try first the IPs on a working PC and check the Router from a Working PC.

I am not sitting in front of this PC, so I have to assume to you check all Network related aspects on the PC and they are OK.

At such a point I would try the PC on its own with a spare Router, or and, on its own with a crossover cable and another computer (both should have static IP of the same subnet).

If it works then I know that it has to do with the compute relation to the Router.

If it does not then it means the PC Network capacity is Kaput.

In such a case a new NIC or and additional reformatting and setting is few of the options.

I have a lot of spares to try things like those mentioned above; an average user might Not have any.

That said it leaves with options to borrow, buy, or seek professional help.
