Seems someone wrote a script to gather email addys from peoples S@H profiles.
From the above thread, it appears he/she's been stopped, at least temporarily.

As suggestion would be to remove you email from your profile to avoid this in the future.

Someone else speculated that they may have gotten the addys from the anti-cheating petition. If so, that sucks.


Some are really irked with SETI, so who knows what they'll do next.
 
hey i just got that email to. They can't of got it from the anti cheat petition as i have yet to get around to signing that.

I got four of these messages too - my email was on the petition. I just deleted the messages - same as I do with any message containing any "l33t" hacker spelling. l33t = loser 😉

l33tsp34k sucks. If a person writes much of anything in it, they've just informed me that they're some of that scum...er...a script kiddie, and I'll proceed to ignore everything they say. 🙁

1337 means leet or so I think. Its just using other character to form letters. For example 7 is t, and 3 is e.....

Its pretty stupid if you ask me. But you didn't so never mind. 😛
 
I haven't gotten one, and I did sign the petetion, but my email is not visible on seti,
so I think that we can safely guess that the kiddies got the emails from the profiles.
 
I have not gotten an Email like this yet. But then again, my seti Email is no longer valid. I just don't want to start over from scratch. 😀 So they must be getting the Email from the website somewhere..
