I've been searching high and low for a good set of stereo speakers. First i looked into the Paradigms, and uncovered a whole slew of other brands: Mirage, Athena, and Axiom. After reading reviews about all of them, one of the most highly regarded speakers were THESE Mirage speakers. I went to a dealer to buy these, and they had cleared them all out because they were "too ugly." Since when did audiophiles care about looks? Sheesh, if it sounds good then it sounds good!
Anyways, since they didn't have those, i made a stupid decision to buy the Klipsch SB2, which sounded alright, but nothing more. Highs weren't clear, but the bass was certainly there, something pretty good for a small sized driver. I finally purchased the Mirages on a whim when i found out Audioadvisor had them for 199 with free shipping! They had a 30 day refund, so it was worth it.
I've been listening to them for about 40 mins now and they're awesome! Highs are VERY crisp and clear. The only thing lacking is the deep bass. Mid bass is there, but the deep bass that used to be produced by my now-retired Microworks system is not as apparent. The imaging is also much better than the Klipsch, and it is much more forward than the Klipsch. That is something that definitely love--my Grado sr325's exhibit this as well.
All I can say is that i'm excited to hear how these things warm up after they're burnt in! I'll probably be building a sub (Shiva) to partner up with these speakers.
