Just received my AMD 3500+ CPU

I just received my AMD 3500+ CPU. Is there any way (based on the serial number, etc.) to determine that I actually received the Winchester 90nm chip without opening the box? I want to make sure they shipped the right thing.

thanks,

Yup, you can tell by the serial number--but I don't remember exactly what letters to look for; they might've been "BI" but I'm not sure. This was mentioned in a recent thread about how to differentiate between Newcastle and Winchester 3500s by looking at the retail box, so search for that.

Edit: CONFIRMED (googling your search with the domain "forums.anandtech.com" is so much easier than using forum search}

Thanks guys. I'd searched, but I guess I hadn't used the right keywords.
Looks like I've got a legit 90nm chip. Thanks for the help.
