Judging by this thread title "Just received a large sum of money..." you have ALREADY received it, so the deal would be considered done. So I call shens on the fact that you claim the deal isn't completely finished, but stated you've received all of your money.

yeah I have jumped the gun a bit. My lawyers are still looking it over and as long as nothing is completely off I will sign the current deal.

It is completely unrelated to me working at compusa, or my ISP (as in the ISP I use) coolaccess.

I cant discuss the product because as of now it is unreleased. The company I sold is more of a business plan and a few key patents ( none held by me, don't try and look, they are owned by a company I raised the money to purchase).

And claire is cool, but her pics are a lil deceiving (classic myspace angle shots taken after apparent years of experience... :p )

You guys are fun... You swear I keep facebook or myspace up to date. I worked at cartoys for less than 2 months and just never took it off.

Think whatever you like. I have what I want. And btw, yes I am getting an advisor, but I was curious what you guys would do if you really did have the money.

Its just really hard for me to fathom it all... Going from struggling to make car payments to working it out where I may be able to live with little work for quite awhile is nice... Just hard to take in. The movies always make you think you could live the life, but its tough to take it seriously if/when it really does happen.

but honestly, invest. i mean, with that kind of money, you can make alot more of it =)

OP if you post a picture of $100,000 in $100s with you in the picture, and big sign that says "SUCK IT ANANDTECH" I'll believe you. Well I'll partially believe you. I'll definitely believe you if you also have in the picture a shampoo bottle with the label removed and a picture of Bea Arthur on it.

Yeah, that car is probably the only reason I won't flip out and buy a veyron or something. Bought it when I had no bills and spent 75% of my paycheck on it each month. Then college started, I barely had time to work and books and stuff aren't cheap.

Money goes away really fast. I was about a semester away from selling that car cause college was more important.

Who ran your successful business while you were in college? Why didn't you just give yourself a raise if the car was 75% of your paycheck?

It wasn't "ran..." go read through my previous posts. I have worked for compusa and cartoys in the meantime to pay for my car and other bills. Plus I bought that car when I had just turned 17 and this was all still a dream/thought...

10 Million seems like way too even of a number. When a business or a "unreleased product" get bought by another business, they hammer away like hell at the numbers, and come up with the exact amount they are willing to invest, minimizing risk and loss. If he had come out and said "I sold my idea/business for $11.23 million" then I would be slightly more inclined to believe it than $10 mil even. That and other factors in this thread leave me with a lot of doubts.

my gut tells me shens.

Just over $10 after taxes is not a nice round number. I rounded it for simplicity.

Oh well, thread is way too OT. If anyone else has anything interesting they'd do with the money chime in plz.
